Cold Forging. Hot vs Cold Forging Process Forging process is a part of forming process. At STS Intelli, we are constantly trying to find ways to improve our forging processes while also protecting and preserving the environment. Cold forging, also known as cold heading, is a metal forming process that involves the plastic deformation of metal by squeezing the material through an open die using an unheated billet and causing the finished part to assume the shape of the die. The cold forging is performed at room temperature.
